The Nets have officially moved out of NJ and into BK, made official by the unveiling of their new logo. They also released a new commercial to rev up ticket sales, using a popular track penned by minority owner, Jay-Z, appropriately titled: “Hello Brooklyn.” Merchandise was also unveiled today (available at the NBA Store)… “It’s the Brooklyn Way” is just one tagline showing the integration of hip hop to the organization and the impact that Jay-Z has. Oh, and he also designed the logo…

This is a great way for players to interactive with fans on a different level. Google+ hangouts are becoming increasingly popular and, if moderated by team officials, we could see more of these throughout the season.

Nike: Speed Delivered with Brian Orakpo (Washington Redskins)...

Nike: Speed Delivered with Brian Orakpo (Washington Redskins) and Wale.

With the new, fully-integrated marketing campaign, Reebok is aiming to change the way people perceive, define and experience fitness, and ultimately show the world that fitness can deliver everything they love about sport. At the heart of the campaign is CrossFit®, the revolutionary strength and conditioning program.

With a focus on community, competition, camaraderie and delivering amazing results, CrossFit is one of the fastest growing fitness movements in the world.

Nike+ Introduces the New Basketball and Training...

Nike+ Introduces the New Basketball and Training Experiences

Nike has unveiled Nike+ Basketball and Nike+ Training—experiences connecting digitally enabled footwear with interactive mobile applications.

The new Nike+ Basketball measures how high, how hard and how quick players play each game, while Nike+ Training experience turns training routine into a game creating a training companion. The Nike+ Basketball experience features a ‘Showcase’ mode, that enables recording their live data on the video.

The Nike+ Pressure Sensor built into a digitally enabled shoe collects information about the user’s movement and transmits data to their phone using wireless connection.

The first NIKE+ enabled Basketball shoe will be the Nike Hyperdunk+ which LeBron James will wear this summer while the first the Lunar Hyperworkout+ for Women and the Lunar TR 1+ for men will become the first Nike+ enabled Training shoes.

Nike introduces the 2012 Black History Month Collection.

Since January 1st, Nike has pushed the #MakeItCount hashtag asking its audience “how will you #makeitcount” and soliciting millions and millions of responses. The Nike+ Fuel Band measures your daily activity and turns it all into NikeFuel. So you can set a goal for every day and then go out and beat it. Life is a sport. Make it Count.

Madison Square Garden, 1971: Smokin’ Joe Frazier knocks down Muhammad Ali, wins by unanimous decision. The loss is Ali’s first. [watch]

Now we were standing outside a deli not far from the Joe Frazier Gym in North Philadelphia and these three kids, maybe 9 years old each, were running toward us shouting:

“Joe Frazier … Joe Frazier … Joe Frazier.”

And the smile on Joe’s face as they came nearer and nearer seemed to light up the tired, gray neighborhood. As they danced around him, Joe sent an aide back to his Rolls-Royce for autographed pictures. He gave one to each and Joe told them: “Now y’all stay in school. Don’t make me have to find you.”

Two of them laughed, but the third one said: “My daddy says Muhammad Ali was drugged,”

In that instant a cold, cold mask seemed to slide across the champion’s face.

“Yeah … yeah,” Joe said, “I drugged him with a left hook.”

I get the use of colors to express his youthfulness and they’re marketing him as a “breakout player.” We’ll see what else comes from the Reebok camp for Wall (lockout or not).

Nike Sportswear released the latest installment from its...

Nike Sportswear released the latest installment from its “Always On” campaign. This one features Lamar Odom as he travels back to his native hometown, Queens, NY, and visits his old highschool, neighborhood and Jamaica Ave, to the tune of Stalley’s “Born to Win.”

The “Always On” campaign is a six-episode video series highlighting the lifestyles of athletes to the soundtracks of music from emerging artists. Previous features included Darrelle Revis, P.K.
